Animation Update

Although drastically hungover and trying to get through some god awful cold, i've spent most of the day working on my animation. I've had a few gaming breaks and have restarted it about three times now but heres what i have so far.

It's looking quite rigid at the moment overall. I'm having some trouble getting the hands look right, i spent forever moving the fingers to look right with the legs but then realised i need to rotate the torso and messed it all up. What you see above of my shabby animation work is the result of that major cock-up. I still have tomorrow to fiddle about after our assessments but i wanted to spend that time completing my 2D animation.
I'm looking forward to seeing how i'm doing in history and theory tomorrow, if i can make it in, i seem to be getting more ill by the second. I'm sure i'll be able to drag myself up there, well, i need to drag myself up there....

It's been a while...

To all three of my readers, i must apologise for not posting in a while, its been a hectic couple of weeks, which included me getting lost in london trying to find my car and missing a day of lectures.
I'll start with this week, because the unfortunate incident of me losing my way (and mind) around london, i missed the session where we were set our projects so i had to inquire with a classmate, luckily i managed to find out what we are doing and set about doing it(cheers emma!).
I had missed the recording sessions so i went through the videos a few times and decided that i liked Pete's v2 walk the best, it also seemed a bit more challenging to do than the others so i set about concepting that and adding a few of my own touches. I figured it seems a bit more appropriate to be pulling your injured leg along with your own hand for support as well as all time spent on the injured leg would be minimal and be generally quicker as not to put pressure on it. I'm trying not to turn it into a zombie walk as i animate it but if it ends up that way i won't be unhappy, it wouldn't be what i am aiming for though.

Our Visual Research Assignment this week was a load of fun, i hope i didn't ruin Finding Nemo for anyone and if i did, i apologise... Apart from the fact my actual presentation wasn't working at all, i managed to recover it slightly by the pictures i had stored in the actual work folder. It did make it look less professional than i would like because i did a relatively pretty flash presentation. At first, i was nervous, hell, everyone seemed nervous but a while into it i had gotten a bit more comfortable and my confidence went up a little. We did overun a little bit and had to cut a few characters from the list but overall, i think we got our point across and did pretty well. We'll see next monday i suppose.
I am still enjoying our history and theory lectures, the debates and issues raised are quite thought provoking and i feel like i always come out of the lesson with a new ideology or feeling for something.
I'd like to say i enjoy tuesdays workshop lessons as much as history and theory but i don't, the workshops and work that we are set is brilliant and helpful but i just can't seem to get to grips with the 2D stuff, my timing is all over the place and its difficult to envision how it would look when moving.
Anyway, back on this project, i roughed up my 2d man thing, really sketchy and i don't like it at all at the moment.

Cheers.

My week off

While quite happy to be spending the rest of my week animating a walk cycle, my week off was overall pretty boring, just nursing a broken finger.
I did however manage to make a car for a game i'm making that i've been banging on about for 2 years to do, going for a grungy, realistic, but completely exagerrated look. (A little racetrack creator where you build your tracks using bezier spline curves and press build create the track and race around with the computer or other players, not sure about doing internet play yet seeing as its bloody complicated, will have different track pieces and themes to use as well as scenery items and skyboxes.)

Just thought i'd post up some drawings i've been doing.
I still can't get to grips with life drawing, i just can't seem to get proportions and a nice flow right. I'm sure with a lot more practice i'll get better..

3D Jumping man

I might as well post this up, its my progress so far.
I'm heading back home for the weekend but i'd like to do some tweaking to this before the hand in date and get it up on moodle.

As far as Uni is going so far, i'm absoloutely loving it. I've met a bunch of truly great people and our history and theory isn't half as boring as i thought it would be (Compared to contextual Studies at College) and i do enjoy debating about the different topics we talk about.

Anyway, for a first post its pretty short but i'll be keeping it up to date.

Cheers.
